In an effort to enhance and beautify the City Center District business area, we will be replacing the existing street lights with new poles and LED fixtures. This work will replace dilapidated poles and street lights with a new and energy efficient system that will illuminate the public streets serving the business area.  We will also be adding new lights in a number of locations to supplement the system.  New or replacement lights will be placed along the following streets:

  1. Both the north and south sides of County Road E (from the RR tracks east to Labore Rd)
  2. The east side of Talmage Circle (from County Road E north to the cul-de-sac)
  3. The east side of Willow Lake Boulevard (from County Road E south to Labore Rd)
  4. The north side of Vadnais Center Drive (from Willow Lake Blvd west to the cul-de-sac)

A combination of 16 foot and 30 foot tall lights will be installed.  These lights will match the improvements made in 2015 along City Center Drive and City Center Lane near the Helene Houle Medical Center and the Fairfield Inn.  In many locations, the project will include brackets for banners, hanging baskets and flags.

We used local companies S.E.H., Inc and Architectural Lighting Designs, Inc. to create the plans. Our contractor for the project is Granite Ledge Electrical Contractors, Inc.  Work will begin in early September and last into winter.

This project has been discussed for a number of years and is a significant investment in the City Center District. If you have any questions or would like further information about this project, please contact City Engineer Mark Graham at 651-204-6050 or at [email protected].
