Group volunteer opportunities available NOW at White Bear Area Emergency Food Shelf.
The White Bear Area Emergency Food Shelf serves neighbors who live in or attend the White Bear Lake School District. The organization is really fortunate to have a community of individuals and corporations that provides generous support financially and through food donations. Sadly the demand for their services continues to rise (up about 15% this year). The good news is that the Food Shelf has been blessed with a very large amount of food donations which all needs to be checked for expirations, sorted, and shelved so it’s available for the community when they come shop.
This is the greatest volunteer need right now and where you or your businesses may be able to help. The Food Shelf is looking for teams (anywhere from 2-15 people) who would be able to share a small amount of time to help sort/stock donations at the food shelf. This can be a one-time opportunity or an ongoing commitment.
There are scheduled openings for sorting every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12:00 – 2:00 pm through the end of February. They may be able to accommodate other times as well, feel free to inquire.
They also have other ongoing (every-other week) serving opportunities available for teams as small as 2 or 3 individuals, as well as some larger events throughout the year including our Mobile Market food distributions which are held at various locations in our area – these are a great way for corporate groups to connect face to face with the community.
